About the job
The Diaspora Transitions Executive will be a member of Ahaspora’s Operations team that currently includes
1 Senior Programs Coordinator, and a Finance and Operations Coordinator,
2 Programs Assistants and an Intern. The Operations team works independently and as a team, and reports to Ahaspora’s Management team.
The main role of the Diaspora Transitions Executive will be to lead implementation of Ahaspora’s first goal to “support the transition process.” Specifically, this role is to support Management in the rolling out of strategy and lead implementation of programming in support of transition of returnees and/or Diaspora community to resettle or do business in Ghana. The Diaspora Transitions Executive will act as the liaison between the Diaspora and Ahaspora in providing information, resources and organizing programs to aid in their decision-making processes.
Core Responsibilities
1. Document the strategy based on Ahaspora Management team’s articulation of the vision and goals
for supporting the transition process:
a. Receive approval on the documented strategy, including proposed programming and highlevel projected timelines (and budgets).
b. Ensure that the strategy includes outcomes and indicators that are achievable and tracked
(consider the SMART methodology in development).
2. Develop and implement an effective communication strategy to inform and educate the diaspora
community of Ahaspora’s work in supporting diaspora transition.
3. Design and plan programs and opportunities for diaspora engagement and interactions.
a. Ensure programs are effective by including feedback to participants, monitor good practices
and institute changes, as applicable.
4. Identify potential funding sources for diaspora engagement and transitions; and contribute to the
development of proposals to gain funds to support such programming.
5. Represent Ahaspora at external programs, conferences and workshops related to diaspora policy
contribution and engagements.
6. Work with the Finance and Operations Coordinator to develop budgets and proposals for respective
programs
Other Responsibilities
1. Support the Ahaspora programs team with overall program implementation.
2. Contribute to Ahaspora reporting, newsletters, and other communications.
3. Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
Applicant should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in diaspora relations
