Morocco has witnessed some strong earthquake that claimed the life of at least 800 people. In 2004, the country was hit by another strong earthquake in North Eastern Morocco killing about 628 people.
Moroccan state TV quoted figures from the Ministry of Interior saying at least 820 people are said to have been killed in the heavy-hit earthquake.
The UK through it’s foreign Secretary James Cleverly has said, the UK will assist Morocco “in whatever way we can”. “The UK is continuing to support British nationals in the region”.
Most people have spent the night outside their homes after the earthquake. The earthquake hit South-West of Marraskesh .
There have condolences from world leaders like France president Emmanuel Macron, Turkey’s leader, Tayyip Erdogan.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said on X, formerly Twiiter “All my solidarity and support to the people of Morocco in the wake of this terrible earthquake”
The African Union also said “great pain” over the “tragic consequences” of the earthquake.
