Helios Towers is a leading independent telecommunications infrastructure company, having established one of the most extensive tower portfolios across Africa. It builds, owns and operates telecom passive infrastructure, providing services to mobile network operators. Helios Towers currently operates in 8 markets in Africa and Oman in the Middle East.
Overview
Reporting to the Regional CEO, the Managing Director for Ghana plays an integral part within the senior management team and holds joint responsibility for creating a vision for us in Ghana and developing the strategic & operational plans to deliver the revenue & operational performance targets, whilst creating an environment of Business Excellence continuous improvement. The role holder will be responsible for overseeing all the functions within our operations while working closely with the Group Functional Teams to embed our values of Integrity, Partnership and Excellence into all aspects of the business in accordance with the objectives of the Group’s Sustainable Business Strategy. The Managing Director should have an ethos of Customer Service Excellence and drive that throughout the entire organisation.

Role Responsibilities
- Contributing to the development of our Ghana corporate strategy, ensuring that this adheres to the plan for us.
- Working closely with the Finance Director to monitor our operations in Ghana operating efficiency and meet the revenue and Profit & Loss targets.
- Leading and directing strategy development, which enables the company to reach its short, medium, and long-term goals and objectives.
- Producing reports on company operations highlighting the risks, challenges, and corrective actions.
- Measuring and reporting on operational performance and developing plans to improve relevant Key Performance Indicators.
- Empowering the operational team with the leadership and resources they need to successfully complete their assigned initiatives.
- Developing and maintaining all necessary systems and procedures to ensure that company operations comply with all legal requirements and meet agreed operational standards.
- Regularly reviewing operations to ensure that these meet required standards and recommend changes where necessary.
- Leading and overseeing the development and performance of direct reports against key performance indicators.
- Cascading the Sustainability Key Performance Indicators to drive the performance of the Ghana operations.
- Working closely with Compliance to ensure ownership of our Code of Conduct and conflict of interest policy.
- Contributing and driving further development of our Helios Towers SHEQ Policies, ensuring that these policies are fully embedded within the organization.
- Being the lead sponsor of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality initiatives and projects in the Ghana operations.
Requirements and Competences

- A Degree in Engineering, Business, or relevant fields
- Minimum of 10 years of experience working in Senior Management roles
- Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in infrastructure, Telecom, Power, Oil & Gas, Mining, or related business
- Prior experience as a Managing Director
- Strong commercial understanding, with experience overseeing operations like Telecommunications, Power, Oil & Gas, Mining industries & others.
- Experience in leading Profit & Loss with competent financial acumen.
- Operational experience in Ghana
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
