The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has ordered the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD) requesting the Payroll Manager not to pay August, 2023 salary and allowances to teachers in the 46 Colleges of Education in the country.

This instruction is sighted in letter dated 21st August, 2023 and signed by Saaka Sayuti, the Director of Administration at GTEC to the CAGD, indicated that, staff of Colleges of Education should not receive their salaries for this month.

However, staffs should receive any arrears before August, 2023 according to the letter. The instruction from GTEC was a directive from Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum , the sector Minister.

It would be recalled that, Colleges of Education Teachers who are members of Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) embark on strike due to failure of Government to attend to their conditions of service.
