These are the simple steps postpaid consumers of ECG can use to read their meters and submit them for accurate billing. This is to prevent heavy adjustments that come after delays by ECG officials to read postpaid meters. There are times when the day interval between the previous reading and the current reading goes as much as sixty (60) days or even more.
Step 1.
Login to the ECG App on your Android Device or Apple Device
A user is required to enter their valid mobile phone number to receive a free One Time Password (OTP) via SMS text message to log in. If the OTP is not received, the user may dial the shortcode *713*414# to view the OTP within 5 minutes of their login attempt.
2. Adding Meters
- Both Prepaid and Postpaid meters can be added to a user’s account.
- To add a meter a user must provide the meter number and confirm the details.
- To save the meter the user must give the meter a name and add the Ghana Post GPS address of the property.
- The GhanaPost GPS address enables ECG to notify the user about relevant service issues that may affect the service to the meter.
- Once a meter is saved, the user may tap on the meter card to get “More Details” on the meter.
- Meter details may include credit balance for prepaid meters, payment history, and other details
3. Click on See details > on your meter page
4. Under the Monthly Summary column, click on See How We Calculate Your Usage
5. A window will pop up to Submit Today’s Reading
6. Based on that another pop-up will appear indicating how to submit your meter reading
7. After which the Camera window will appear showing your meter name. NB: Make sure your camera and the reading are clear. You will be asked to enter the reading after the capture. It is also advisable to read your meter between the 28th to 30th of every month to ensure monthly actual consumption. The billing team responds after 72 hours.
