It is reported by an Accra Circuit that, huge sums of money and some belongings of Minister of Sanitation, Works and Housing, Cecilia Abena Dapaah and her husband, Mr. Daniel Osei Kuffour have been stolen by their two househelps in their Abelemkpe residence.

The prosecution said that the incidence happened between July and October, 2022. The accused Patience Botwe, 18, and Sarah Agyei, 30 are facing one count of conspiracy to commit a crime and five counts of stealing, involving an amount of US$1 million, 300,000 euros and millions of Ghana Cedis.

The reports also indicated by the Chronicle on Friday, the two during that same period were alleged to have stolen personal items of the minister, clothes worth about GH¢ 95,0000 and handbags, perfumes, jewellery all valued at US$95,000.

Former President John Mahama reacted to the said incident. He indicated why the Minister should keep such huge sums of dollars and euros at home even if genuinely acquired.

Three other persons; Benjamin, Kweku Botwe and Malik are being charged for dishonestly receiving GH¢ 180,000, GH¢ 50,000 and GH¢ 1 million respectively. Investigations revealed that, Patience used the stolen funds to finance properties, buying vehicles and other personal items.

The court is expected to continue with the case on 2nd August, 2023.
