Your Role:
Being Regional Communication Manager, your day will be primarily focused on:
- Develop and implement communication strategy for Africa, including work plan and budget development, in alignment with the global communications strategy;
- Develop strategies to grow audience base and deepen audience engagement that includes, audience analysis and engagement, content strategy and content planning and production;
- Produce, coordinate and support the creation of content for communication tools and platforms (e.g. press releases, publications, social media posts). Generate compelling examples of how Earthworm, its members/partners, bring about change on the ground;
- Assist in implementing the social media strategy, creating and maintaining relevant local social media platforms. Draft monthly reports based on downloaded user information, keeping track of engagement levels, and find ways to improve engagement;
- Build relationships with external media and ensure that our work is known in the region;
- Provide communications support for member communications in the region;
- Develop strategic partnerships and engagement on key Earthworm projects in Africa;
- Engage and manage external agencies/consultants, where needed;
- Plan and coordinate strategic events in the region;
- Maintain database system and archive files and records; inventory of communication equipment; document administration; updating and maintaining vendor database;
- Monitor efficacy and quality of internal communications through employee surveys and develop reports and action plan based on survey results;
- Facilitate cross-pollination of ideas and approaches among regions, share challenges and solutions with other regional communications managers.
Your Profile:
You are genuinely motivated to respond to environmental and social challenges related to agriculture, forestry and human rights and you strongly aspire to put your creativity to the service of the cause.
Graduated from a school of communication or journalism, you have exceptional writing, editing, planning and organizational skills. You enjoy project management, from ideation to implementation and are able to prioritize your work in an independent manner, which enables you to naturally take high value initiatives. You have demonstrated proficiency with communication tools (video, photoshop, InDesign, website), a strong appetite for analytics and familiarity with storytelling.
Being agile, open minded and resilient you are able to adapt to multicultural team and dynamic organizational context. You thrive on human relations and your taste for collaboration with a large variety of audience, both with technical and artistical team members but also with external stakeholders, which makes you a valuable asset to this international team.
You show curiosity and a desire to learn and understand our actual work and various project. You navigate your way through interpersonal tensions with empathy though eventually taking a clear position and defining a way forward in your field of responsibilities.
Working conditions
- Education: Master Degree or Equivalent
- Experience: 5 years minimum
- Start Date: Immediate or ASAP
- Full-time, fixed-term contract (1 year)
- Native and/or Fluent in both English and French (written & Spoken)
- Based in our office either in Accra, Ghana or Abidjan, Ivory Coast or Yaoundé, Cameroon
- Citizenship or legal permission to work in the country
Our global operations span many time zones, staff may be required to work outside of regular office hours.
